Why trust us

Air sealing first: the promises behind each quote

No reviews on this site yet — a company this new has none to show, and an attic is judged by the power bill.

  • Air-seal first

Top plates, penetrations, the attic hatch and the can lights sealed before the insulation goes in.

  • Insulate to the number

The depth and the R-value on the quote, verified with a ruler at the end.

  • Ventilate correctly

Soffit baffles kept open and the attic ventilation checked; insulation that blocks the soffits rots the roof deck.

  • Blow over wet or moldy insulation

Wet insulation is removed; the moisture source is found first.

  • Cover recessed lights that are not rated

A non-IC can light under insulation is a fire; they are boxed or replaced.

  • Foam a roof deck without a plan for the HVAC

A sealed attic changes how the house breathes, and the ventilation and the equipment are part of the design.

Middle Tennessee

Long cooling seasons and vented crawl spaces in Middle Tennessee

Middle Tennessee sits in climate zone 4, where the recommended attic value is roughly R-38 to R-49. A great many Nashville attics are still at the R-19 that was normal when they were built.

Our cooling season is long and hard, so attic insulation here pays back on summer bills more than winter ones — the opposite of the way it is usually sold.

Vented crawl spaces are common in older Nashville housing and are the reason for cold floors, humid summers indoors and the musty smell people blame on the ducts.

FAQ

Insulation and air sealing questions, answered

How much does insulation cost in Nashville?

Insulation in Nashville is priced by the square foot for the attic at a target depth, by the linear foot for air sealing, and by the board foot for spray foam; the removal of old insulation is its own line, and the quote shows the R-value you are buying.

How fast can you get someone out?

An insulation assessment in Nashville is usually within the week; an attic job takes a day, and the crew schedules it for a day the attic is not a hundred and thirty degrees.

What areas do you cover?

Insulation crews serving Nashville also cover Franklin, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, Hendersonville; the range is 65 towns in 12 counties.

Are you licensed and insured?

Every insulation crew we run carries liability insurance on file with us, and the crews applying spray foam are trained on the product and the ventilation it requires.

Do you charge for an estimate?

No — free, written, and no obligation.

What if something goes wrong afterwards?

Send the form; the workmanship is backed in writing.

Why are my upstairs rooms always hot?

Usually attic insulation and air sealing rather than the air conditioner. Heat radiates down from an attic that reaches well over 130°F in a Middle Tennessee summer, and air leaks at can lights, top plates and the attic hatch let conditioned air escape upward. Undersized or leaking ducts in the attic compound it. Adding insulation without sealing the leaks first gives a fraction of the benefit.

How much attic insulation should a house in Tennessee have?

Around R-38 to R-49 for this climate zone, which is roughly fourteen to twenty inches of blown fiberglass or cellulose depending on the material. Many houses here built before the 2000s have half that. If you can see the tops of the ceiling joists when you look across the attic, there is not enough.

What is the difference between spray foam, blown-in and batts?

Batts are fiberglass rolls fitted between framing — cheapest, and only as good as the fit. Blown-in fills irregular spaces and is the usual choice for topping up an attic. Spray foam both insulates and air seals in one step and has the highest R-value per inch, which is why it is used at rim joists and in unvented attic assemblies. It also costs the most by a wide margin.

Is insulation worth the money in energy savings?

Attic insulation and air sealing return more per dollar than almost any other efficiency work, including windows — which is why an honest energy assessment starts there. The payback is usually a few years rather than decades. The comfort difference in upstairs rooms is often more noticeable than the bill difference, and it is the reason most people actually do it.

Why is there condensation or frost in my attic?

Warm moist air from the house is reaching a cold attic and condensing — from bathroom fans venting into the attic instead of outside, gaps around the attic hatch and light fittings, or inadequate ventilation. It is a moisture and air-sealing problem rather than an insulation one, and adding insulation on top without fixing it traps the moisture and rots the sheathing.
